About Me
In addition to my education and training, I know that my roles as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and caregiver, have brought additional understanding and richness to my skills as a psychologist. It is my hope to share my empathy, my ability to connect with others, my knowledge, and my skills to help people live their lives with more resilience and hope!
I earned a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in counseling psychology. I completed my doctoral internship at the Veterans Affairs Administrative Hospital in Danville, Illinois, specializing in health psychology, neuropsychology, and inpatient psychiatry. I have a M.A. in counseling psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia and my B.A. is in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
I have 15 years of training and experience in the following settings: university counseling centers, rehabilitation department within a private hospital, Veterans Medical Center Hospital, and both private and state psychiatric hospitals. Positions held include being the Chief Psychologist of the Nursing Rehabilitation and Care Unit of Bryce Hospital, the Director of Neuropsychology Services at Bryce Hospital, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and an On-Call Psychologist at North Harbor Pavilion within the In-Patient Psychiatry Unit in Northport, Alabama.
